What to Expect on Your First Visit
We would like to help prepare you for your chiropractic care by letting you know what to expect on your first visit. Whether you are a seasoned chiropractic patient, or new to chiropractic all together, we would like to help you know what to expect on your first visit so that you can get the most out of it.
At your new patient visit, you will first fill out some paperwork regarding your complaint and your health history. You have the option of printing out the office forms from the website and filling them out in advance. Otherwise papwework will be provided to you upon your Dr. Price's arrival. After that, you will begin with a consultation with the chiropractor, where she will spend a bit of time explaining chiropractic, her approach to care, and what you can expect from your examination and any subsequent treatment. After getting a history of your presenting complaint, a chiropractic examination will be conducted. You will be assessed for things such as range of motion, posture, and neurological and orthopedic findings. Once your condition has been assessed, the chiropractor will make recommendations for a course of care, and if appropriate, provide treatment. Dr. Price always aims to begin with some form of treatment at the first visit, provided treatment is not contraindicated.
In certain instances, further investigation, such as x-ray or MRI imaging, may be necessary before treatment can be recommended. The chiropractor will refer you out to the appropriate imaging center if required. In the rare event that your case is deemed not a chiropractic one, we will of course refer you on to the best suited practitioner for your needs.
The amount and frequency of care you require will depend on a number of factors, including your personal health goals, your current physical condition and health, and the nature and severity of your symptoms or condition. How long care will take and the ultimate results you will achieve depend on your response to treatment, your activities for work and play, and your adherence to the chiropractor’s recommendations, among other things.
Dr. Price uses her expertise and clinical experience to make the best recommendations she can for your individual needs. However, it is ultimately your own responsibility to make informed decisions about your health, and to follow through with your care as you see fit. Together, you and Dr. Price will decide how best to approach your chiropractic care to suit your goals and requirements.
