Once I Start Chiropractic Care, Do I Need to Continue?
Many patients will ask, “Once I start chiropractic care, do I need to continue?” The answer is both yes and no, because it depends on what the individual patient is seeking from care.
For those who want only to receive the minimal amount of care required to resolve the symptoms which have prompted them to seek care, then the answer is “no.” Care can be discontinued at the completion of relief care, however, these people should realize that it is likely that they will eventually have symptoms arise which are related to new or unresolved underlying conditions, at which point they may want to return to the chiropractor for another course of relief care.
For those who prefer to maintain good postural and spinal health, the answer is "yes," and they may choose to go on to receive further treatment beyond relief care. This ongoing care can take the form of corrective care - which is more frequent and therefore progressively works to further correct underlying problems - or maintenance care - which is less frequent but still occurs at regular intervals to maintain what correction has been achieved during relief care.
The “need” to continue is an individual choice. It may not be required, but it is certainly of benefit.
